THE COIL BINDING MARKET IN EUROPE
The development and rapid use
of Plastic Coil on the US market has so far not been followed
by the expected increase of Coil
Binding in Europe. The main reason would appear to be the
incompatibility of US punching pitches and European Paper sizes.
This leads
the bookbinder and the
end user to perceive the system as more complicated than it
really is. Best Bind
Systems has suggested “Easy to understand” standards
to simplify the customer’s choice. A simple standard means that
if a client chooses a Eurokoil® punching die Nr. 7 then this will
operate 100% correctly with Eurokoil® Binding elements Pitch Nr.7.
This simple system means that the client does not need to take
responsibility to specify difficult measurements or to “trim
paper or pull pins”. This simple classification does not depart
from market standards, but has opened an opportunity for normal
bookbinders and trade finishers to be prepared to easily take
part in the expansion
of the market for Plastic Coiling Binding in Europe.
Today, the
Plastic Coil Market is only well developed in Spain where there
is a tradition of 5mm pitch binding with the traditional
metal Coil Binding. The equipment for binding this pitch is therefore
already in place on the Spanish market. There is some development
of demand in the UK Market and a small pocket of concentrated
usage in
Finland and France. Apart from this, in the rest of Europe and
the Middle East the market is undeveloped with few reliable suppliers
and
little technical competence available to support dealers and
end users.
Best Bind Systems is now positioned to supply compatible punching
dies and coil binding elements with fast delivery and very competitive
prices.
Eurokoil® is the registered trade mark of Best Bind Systems Ltd
UK.
Eurokoil® does not replace the use of the
Wire or Metal Binding system. But in many cases where a strong
durable solution is required
to protect against mechanical damage Eurokoil® offers a superior
and price competitive solution.

producing the following products:
• School Books
